Do You Believe In Magic?

All entries in the Juried Show were on display for entire month of June at the Western Heritage Center in Billings. The show boasted a wide variety of items including baskets, three dimensional figures, wall hangings and garments. This was another instance where participating in the conference meant more than a few days of interacting with fellow fiber enthusiasts. Western Heritage Center

Exhibit at WHC. Exhbit 2 at WHC. There is no doubt that because of this exhibit, hundreds of people from outside the Billings metro area saw and appreciated the "state of the craft" of textiles and fibers.

Many eyes must have been opened to the current sophisticated range of techniques and high level of standards to which today's fiber artists are working.

Socks, hats and sweaters were among the items on exhibit at the Western Heritage Center. Two sections of the wall display are pictured here.

The fashion show, as always, was a social event; a time when friends shared in the recognition and appreciation of an idea made into reality. No item was so small or simple that it didn't "come alive" when worn by a smiling model, usually the creator herself. Many of the garments which had hung in the Heritage Center appreared Sunday morning at the Fashion Show and Brunch. Jeanne Bjorkman

Weavers When taken in total, the conclusion is that the MAWS Conference of 1998 was a "great" conference!

It was Magic!
